Did you know that the average home is only lived in for three years before it is sold? At first, this may seem preposterous, however, it may make more sense when you consider the external factors.

Job Relocation – A Move In Position

Job relocations are very common in the United States. When looking at contracts that will be made between organizations and their employees, 3-5 years is a very decent lengthen contract. After this contract, it is time to sell your home and move to the next city for your contracts.

Financial Situation

An additional reason to move after such a short period of time would be for a major change in your financial situation. Whether someone is suddenly making more or less money, the housing situation that they are in will likely need to change in either direction.

Family Size

And finally, one of the most common reasons to move houses is the size of your family. Many families are not in the financial position to purchase a home to fit what their family will grow to, so they will take steps in house size, to allow them to build equity. However, once their children begin to move out, it becomes apparent that they have a house far too large for them. This is when they will begin to scale down, and maybe even move into an apartment.

Although there are often times many reasons to move, are families usually ready to? It has been shown that the average family needs 6-12 months to become fully adjusted to a new house. This includes moving in, adjusting to living situations, and even just feeling comfortable. Not everyone will feel safe in their new residence sometimes for more than that first year. This is simply just because they do not know the safety of the house, or the neighborhood yet. Some ways to make this go faster would be to purchase a home security system, become a part of the neighborhood watch, or even just keep an eye on the neighborhood community groups online. Following each of these factors, it should be easy to adjust to your new home
