Whether you are purchasing your first home or moving to a new one, the process can be a bit overwhelming. That is why we have put together a list for you of moving tips that may help you get ahead on your next big move!

Moving Companies

While it may seem obvious that hiring a moving company is a great answer, it gets really expensive! In fact, we don’t recommend a moving company in every situation. A moving company is an ultimate scenario no matter where you are. However, due to the high price, it is unlikely that a move from an apartment is worth the expense. Due to the size of most apartments, you will not have the need for that level of help. With a few family members, your work could be done in an afternoon. However, when moving from one house to another, your load gets….a bit bigger. This is where a moving company really comes to shine. Just be aware, that a moving company will usually set you back at least an additional $1,000.

Pack in Advance

It is pretty often that a closing window will be roughly 30 days. Most likely, you will not start packing until this window starts. However, if you know that you are searching for houses and you have not been able to close on one yet, what is stopping you from starting? Of course, you shouldn’t pack up your kitchen or your wardrobe. But packing places like your basement and your extra bedroom will help you get ahead of the curve and make the daunting task a bit more manageable later.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help

The most common mistake when moving is that people want to do the entire task for themselves. Asking others for help does not need to feel like you are giving up. Many people would love the opportunity to help you do something like this. Do not look at it as a bad thing. This can be seen as you “Hanging out” with your friends when you would not normally have time. Packing together will give you and your friends/family memories that you will never forget, so don’t miss out on them because you are too humble.
